The Charmer Sunbelt Group (CSG) is pleased to announce that it received a Corporate Sponsorship award from the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) on Oct. 21 in Washington, D.C. The award acknowledges CSG’s support for community initiatives that foster zero tolerance for underage drinking, binge drinking and drunk driving.
Founded in 1982, WRAP is an award-winning public/private partnership working to prevent drunk driving and underage drinking in Washington D.C. Through public education, health education programs and advocacy, WRAP is credited with keeping the Washington area’s alcohol-related traffic deaths consistently lower than the national average.
The former administrator of the Maryland State Highway Administration, Neil Pedersen, announced the awards at the ceremony. The Corporate Sponsorship award honors those who contributed $5,000 or more to WRAP in fiscal year 2011. CSG joined other esteemed recipients of the award, including AT&T, GEICO, the Century Council , and the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington.
Over the past year alone, WRAP’s accomplishments include removing over 3,000 would-be drunk drivers from Greater Washington’s roadways via its popular, free cab ride service, SoberRide; spearheading the region’s Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign to reduce alcohol-related traffic fatalities in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia; and reaching nearly 7,000 Greater Washington high school students with its multimedia outreach program, Alcohol Awareness for Students.
The Charmer Sunbelt Group continues to foster the legal, safe and responsible consumption of beverage alcohol. The company will continue its partnerships with community leaders on local initiatives to combat underage drinking, binge drinking and drunk driving.
