He’s making his list and checking it twice. The reindeer have been fed, the elves are putting last-minute touches on toys and the sleigh has been outfitted with new turbo-charged runners. All is ready for Santa’s big day. But even the Big Guy needs a little help now and then delivering his gifts to all the children in the world. That’s when The Charmer Sunbelt Group is only too glad to help.
For the fourth year in a row, employees of CSG helped collect and distribute toys and food to needy families in Maryland. The CSG Food and Toy Drive was held through Dec. 7 to benefit Take Back Our Streets, a local nonprofit organization that collects new, unwrapped toys and distributes them to disadvantaged children. Children's names are submitted to the organization from local public schools, churches and other organizations.
"Once again we were happy to partner with Take Back Our Streets, as the work they do is important to our area," said Michele Jankowski, payroll manager for business services at CSG who was instrumental in organizing this event. “We are happy to be a part of bringing joy to disadvantaged children and their families in our community.”
A holiday party was held on Dec. 7 at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, during which toys and nonperishable food items were collected. Holiday music, refreshments and pictures with Santa were part of the festivities. Donations were also collected at the CSG offices.
On Dec. 15, volunteers gathered at Abundant Life Church to help unload a truckload of toys. More sorting and bagging of toys took place the next evening. On Dec. 17, volunteers delivered the items to needy families. New this year was a partnership with Toys for Tots, which resulted in even more donations.
Since 2008, CSG associates have donated food, toys and time to this important cause and are always delighted to give back to the community in any way. And we’re sure that when Santa goes on his ride on a long winter’s night, he’ll appreciate all the extra holiday cheer and all the help provided by the CSG team!
