Even in these challenging times, some of the world’s best-known wine suppliers came together with top New York restaurants to help raise funds for The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York.
Wine and Wishes 2010 was a smashing success as hundreds of hungry New Yorkers enjoyed an event that could only be put on by The Charmer Sunbelt Group. Tickets, which ranged from $250 up to $1,000 for an exclusive VIP tasting, were quickly snatched up by generous New Yorkers, who turned out to support The Make-A-Wish Foundation. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Empire Merchants, CSG’s Metro New York operation, secured 18 top restaurateurs and caterers to serve their signature dishes. Participating this year were: Abigail Kirsch, AJ Maxwell’s, Aureole, Benjamin’s Steakhouse, Butterfield 8, the Capital Grille, David Martin of Top Chef, Fred’s, the Culinary Institute of America, Kellari Seafood Tavern, Knickerbockers’ Bar and Grill, Max & Mina’s Ice Cream, the Melting Pot, Pera, Pescatore, Public House, Robert’s Steak House, and Tribeca Grill.
CSG’s suppliers, far too many to list, generously donated both their time and wine for Wine and Wishes 2010. Their contribution to this event was acknowledged by our CEO and Vice Chairman Charlie Merinoff, who said: “I am deeply grateful for the significant generosity of our suppliers – particularly during this challenging business climate – who are contributing not only their wine but also their time and remarkable passion for our industry to help create a tremendous event that benefits a great cause.”
In the past seven years, Wine and Wishes has raised more than $2.5 million. While ticket sales from the estimated 600 guests help greatly in generating funds, the event would not be possible without support from the event’s Grand Cru sponsor, Diageo NA. In addition, a record number of donors have contributed to the event’s live and silent auctions.
